How to arrange a kitchen in a marine style

Cloudless sky, the gentle sound of waves and hot sand – this is a scenario that many people miss all year round. If you like the holiday atmosphere of coastal towns, maybe it's time to reproduce it in your own home. The marine style has many different varieties. However, we will focus on the general features of the marine style, without distinguishing its individual varieties. You will learn how to make an interior inspired by the seaside beaches that delight you all year round.

Kitchen furniture in marine style
The marine style is most often reproduced in the living room, but it also works in the kitchen. The key to success, in this case, is to choose the right colours and materials. It will not come as a surprise that wooden kitchen furniture is the most popular for this style design, especially pieces with a light shades and a glossy finish. These types of furniture bring to mind the cabin of a ship and atmospheric restaurants where seafood is served. A cheaper alternative to kitchen furniture made of natural wood are copies made of MDF. Another idea for the arrangement of a marine interior is the use of white furniture. Additionally, you can combine them with both brown and blue accents. A blue worktop, or knobs for furniture will give the kitchen a dreamy, marine atmosphere. It is blue, white and brown that dominate this style. You can mix and combine them freely, but it is important that the white remains the principal colour. Marine rooms seem extremely spacious and filled with light. You can get this effect with white walls or furniture. Which type of floor to choose? Again, there are a lot of different options. Both parquet and terracotta are great. Characteristic elements of a marine kitchen are a table and a kitchen island. If you have enough space it is worth choosing one of these pieces of furniture. In both cases, it will also be a good idea to choose chairs with unique upholstery on the seats. Interestingly, many different models will work great here. Classic wooden chairs are often chosen, but bar stools, a bench and even rocking chairs made of wicker or rattan look equally good.

Marine cuisine – Ideas and inspirations
You can get a marine character to your rooms not only with the help of furniture, but also with various accessories. Again, wooden items are a great choice. Both stylish containers for spices and a decorative ladle or cutting board will work. An ideal choice are also various accessories made of wicker or rattan. In the role of decoration, tableware also works perfectly. The principle of contrast works here, e.g. inside a blue dresser, even simple white plates look like the most expensive porcelain. Tableware, which is decorated with a marine pattern, also looks great. These can be shells, delicate waves or a fishing boat. The choice is yours. Other useful accessories are tablecloths, napkins and curtains. The maritime style is associated with white and blue stripes and minimalist linen ornaments. It is these types of accessories that will help you decorate your interior. Although mostly textile accessories are associated with the living room and bedroom, with a marine style they also work well in the kitchen. For example, striped, white and blue seat cushions look great. Another important element of the décor is lighting. For the kitchen, lamps of wooden construction fit very well. Bleached metal will also work great. If you want the room to be cosy, install atmospheric lanterns.
